Sweet & Savory: Waffles!
As event styles have shifted to become more intimate with state mandates in regards to COVID, the way that food is served has also changed (and could be something to consider when planning your event)! In honor of National Waffle Day on August 24, here are some ways to get creative with your event cuisine and making any breakfast-loving event attendees very happy!
BREAKFAST BOARD | Who doesn’t love a good charcuterie-style spread? Cascading waffles & pancakes, fresh berries, jars of syrup options, and maybe some yogurt & granola! Elopement brunches are a nice way to save some money – fewer people, less alcohol, and a shorter amount of time (and plenty of time to party later).
FRESH WAFFLE BAR |If you have multiple immunocompromised guests attending your event, a chef attended waffle bar could be the way to go. There are lots of ways to customize a waffle bar to make it exactly how you want it:
Classic Waffle: Syrup, fruit, whipped cream
A La Mode: Add an ice cream topping option with hand scooped chocolate or vanilla
Dinner Entree: Top your freshly prepared waffle with fried chicken and have gravy on the side for a classic Southern style treat
Savory Snack: Not all waffles are created equally! Add diced sausage, mushroom, spinach, or green onions to have a totally delicious savory waffle. Top this with shredded cheese, blistered tomatoes, bacon, roasted red peppers, sauteed spinach or eggs – or use it as your bread for the perfect extra-fancy breakfast sandwich! (or go the potato route – loaded mashed potatoes in a waffle iron make a delicious side)
PASSED APPETIZER | Choose fried chicken, waffles & syrup or fried chicken, waffles & gravy for your ideal version of chicken & waffles. Our mini waffles are not only cute, but also are the perfect vessel for fried chicken bites. Whether you’re looking for a passed appetizer that your guests will never forget or a small plate for a cocktail-style dinner party, your guests will love this little snack.
There are so many options when it comes to waffles – and when it comes to personalizing your event! While things may have changed due to pandemic restrictions, there are still a ton of ways to make your event unique and memorable! Have a favorite snack or food?
